The best way to help C.U.F.F. Cancer succeed is to organize a head-shaving "Fund Razor" for a Children's Oncology Camping Association International (COCA) camp in your area.
How do you organize the event?
The event is VERY easy to organize with a committee of just a few people the event can be put together and be a VERY successful Fund Razor for your camp. For further information contact Lt. Michael Macarilla at the Vermont State Police via email at mmacarilla@cuffcancer.org. I will be more then happy to assist you with a C.U.F.F. Cancer event in your area.
Can we use the C.U.F.F. Cancer logo at our event?
The logo has been registered as a trademark. The logo can be used by your organization IF you are associated with C.O.C.A. For the time being all merchandise shall be purchased through our local vendor here in Vermont.
Will officers be interested in participating?
Law Enforcement officers and other public safety professionals have been VERY receptive to this event. The event has drawn officers from adjoining states to Vermont just for a chance to participate. We have even had several female officers participate, two of whom have had their hair cut at the event and donated it to "Locks for Love" in Florida. The female officers who participate seem to generate the most in donations so if you can find just one female with long hair willing to help children your event will be even more special. We have also had male officers known for their "handlebar" mustaches or District Attorneys known for their "doo" participate and bring large amounts of funds into the program.
Is it difficult to bring media attention to the event?
Not at all, once a press release is distributed you will have calls from all media sources. It is also a good idea to ask a local newscaster to emcee your event to bring even more coverage to it. We have been interviewed on local radio stations here in Vermont and because of that one local deejay got involved and ended up taking pledges to have his head shaved. One officer who decided to participate on the day of the event attended that radio show and raised over $3,000.00 in less then twelve hours.
